Recommended use:
- Turkey tail grain spawn is suitable for indoor cultivation using sterile sawdust-based substrates, and outdoor cultivation using straw or woodchips.
- It thrives particularly well when grown in buckets.
- Grain spawn should not be utilized for log inoculation.
- It’s important to note that this is not a mushroom grow kit.
- To produce mushrooms, Turkey tail grain spawn must be combined with a substrate.
Upon receiving your spawn:
As soon as you receive the package, promptly take it out of the shipping box. Next, unfurl the upper part of the bag to allow for adequate airflow. Additionally, ensure that the filter patch is unobstructed to facilitate the organism’s respiration and sustained well-being.

- Primordia refers to the initial discernible phase of fruitbody formation, commonly known as “baby mushrooms” or “mushroom pins.”
- Fruitbody represents the matured state of a mushroom, serving as the reproductive structure responsible for spore production.
- CO2 sensitivity refers to the mushroom’s responsiveness to carbon dioxide levels. Elevated CO2 can lead to reduced yields, elongated and thin stems, undersized caps, or growth cessation.
Cultivating indoors:
You can create Turkey tail substrate blocks by incorporating Turkey tail mushroom grain spawn into sterilized hardwood sawdust.
Please keep in mind that before you can initiate the fruiting process, it is essential to combine the grain spawn with a bulk substrate. If you are new to mushroom cultivation, we suggest acquiring a book on the subject for guidance.
Cultivating outdoors:
To cultivate Turkey tail mushrooms, you can distribute the Turkey tail spawn over chopped straw or wood chips, as demonstrated in the video provided below.
Storage:
If you do not intend to utilize the spawn immediately, it is possible to refrigerate it for a duration of up to 4 months.

Before consuming home-grown mushrooms, it is important to cook them thoroughly with heat. If you are trying this particular species for the first time, it is recommended to begin with a small portion to assess for any potential allergies, even if the mushrooms have been cooked.
Value System:
Our Value System guides the design of each strain. When we collect a species from the wild and initiate the first spore germination or tissue-culture/clone, we designate its age as T-0. Subsequent transfers of the original culture from one matrix to the next are then labeled in increments of T-1, T-2, and so forth. This library tries to maintain strains closest to their origins or closest to their peak fruiting potentials.
